Atlantis Marine Park
Built in 1981 in Two Rocks, 60kms north of Perth, the park was created by business man Alan Bond for Tokyu Corporation of Japan.
As part of his plan upon purchasing 20,000 acres in the 1970s, Atlantis Marine Park would be the major feature in his Yanchep Sun City plan, which was hope to attract tourism to the area. Bond was also planning a large resort and residential area around it.
Due to financial constraints stemming from a number of reasons, the park closed in August 1990 and has remained abandoned since, although most of the it has since been demolished.
A planned Woolworths development for the site, which would see the King Neptune statue retained, appears to have stalled.
