Mandogalup Farm House Ruins

For the majority of people, places like this will be of little interest to them, particular urbexers where nothing tangible remains, other than a graffitied old water tank and pieces of debris that tell a story.

The farmhouse that was once located on this 127,760 m² block of land wasn’t particularly old, considering the history of Mandogalup. Sometime between the late 1950's - early 1960s, a farmstead and shed was constructed here. The block was filled with the thick bush that is predominant in the area and the big area which was cut down, remains today as grass.

It’s difficult to see what the land was being used for, when looking at past aerial imagery. Perhaps the bush block was cut down with the intention of growing crops or raising sheep.

From 1985 and perhaps a year earlier, the grass block was most certainly used for cultivating and harvesting crops of some sort. By 1989, the area used for crops had doubled in size.

Then came along the Kwinana Freeway during the early 1990s, constructed through a corner of the crop field.

By 2007, there was no more cultivating or harvesting. Perhaps the owner had moved into a nursing home and had left it to his children.

There's no sales history for the property, so it could have been the case of a developer offering to buy the land, with the intention of one day developing it for a housing estate, which is yet to happen.

Within a year, a state of dilapidation began consuming the abandoned property and it was subsequently demolished in March 2010.

All that remains are the pieces of debris that tell a story.
