06 - Kingstown Barracks - Sergeant's Mess (Ex Hospital).JPG

External Buildings

Building 11 - Hospital

H. Hoyle of Subiaco constructed the hospital, located at the rear of the Barracks for £2,787.

It later became the Sergeant's Mess, likely in November 1950 when Kingstown Barracks was modernised to be repurposed as a WA recruit training centre for the Australian Regular Army. The building would later contain 18 beds.

Building 20 - Residence

Originally constructed as a Residence, it later became the Officer's Mess, likely in November 1950 when Kingstown Barracks was modernised to be repurposed as a WA recruit training centre for the Australian Regular Army.

Perhaps when the Education Department took over the Barracks, the Officer's Mess became the Supervisor's Private Residence.
