The procedures for storing cordite was strictly enforced. Staff working in this area wore special clothing including felt overshoes to ensure no static charge was transferred to the cordite.

The cordite charges were bagged in zinc metal containers. Any sparks or flames could ignore and blowing up the Battery!

The only time the bagged cordite charges were removed from their containers was for inspections, before being replaced in the zinc metal containers until they were required for use and placed in the gun's ammunition hoist.
