Duties: Police duties - Policing, Ambulance Officers, State Emergency Officers and Volunteer Fire Service Officers. All officers are Special Constables in South Australia, as many cases may move over the border to SA.
History: Was first a police post on 2 July 1973 but was upgraded to a police station in August 1976. The official opening took place in 28 September 1976. The boundries were originally 50,000 sq m. Changes in 1992 made them to 130,000 sq m. Before lockups were equipped in this station, prisoners were transported to Norseman, 700 km away.

Jigalong Multi-Functional Police Facility
Details: Opened on Friday 4 April 2008. It is situated 165 kms east of Newman in the Pilbara. Costing over $4 million, the MFPF is a State Government initiatve instigated as a direct result of the Gordon Inquiry. It is the first permanent police facility to be established in the Western Desert area and will be staffed by two police officers and an officer from the Department for Child Protection. The Jigalong’s population varies between 200 – 400 people. The area was previously policed by Newman. The facility has an interview room, video interview room, a charge room, two holding cells and a multi function room that has built-in facilities to be operated as a court room. The Department of the Attorney General can conduct regular court proceedings without requiring community members to travel to Newman. Three new homes have been built to house the police and DCP officers posted to Jigalong.

Warmun Multi-Functional Police Facility
Details: This station was officially opened at 10.30 am on Friday 10 August 2007. It is the first permanent police facility to be established in the area. Previously, law enforcement was provided by officers from the Argyle Police Station. Costing more than $3 million, this new Police Facility is a State Government initiative instigated as a direct result of the Gordon inquiry. The new facility will also have capacity for officers from the Department of Community Development and the Development of the Attorney General. The new facility will serve the Warmun community, which has a population of between 400 and 500 people, will help the remote community become safer, more stable and will strengthen and consolidate relationships between police, other agencies and residents.
